It’s episode 1!
Should it be called the Big Money Podcast or Outliers Podcast??? Maybe Luke has another idea…
People ask us all the time about news headlines and what they mean for the market. In this episode, we cover how news is oftentimes just noise…even on the trading desks.
There’s a lot covered in this virtual chat: SPACs, BBQ, news headlines, sports, and election thoughts. Make sure to send us some feedback either in the comments or via email.
We have video and audio formats below, or follow us on Spotify!
Enjoy!
Thanks a lot, I appreciate your insights!
I would be interested in your discussion of volume for a single stock.
Does it have any use as an indicator in your opinion?
Is a rising price on increasing volume really better than price that simply rises, possibly even on declining volume?
Hey Beat –
We have looked at many relationships between volume. As you can imagine, that’s one piece of the formula for how we find outlier stocks.
That being said, there is a lot of noise that happens with volumes on single stocks. We’ve found that including a fundamental component at the very least is going to help.
Price and volume relationships exist, but sifting through to find the special stocks is the key. A winning formula will have both quantitative and qualitative traits. We hope this helps and thanks for the great question.
That was a great podcast. It’s good to hear you guys doled our what’s in your mind, markets, experience, philosophical, things in lives. I can related to all these. I’d love to hear more of this and market breadth and sentiment. I really look forward to another podcast.
Thanks Ken! We were only having fun on the first go ’round.
We will have more structure as we focus and nail down the message that we want to convey.
Ideally we want to try and bridge the gap between having a fun conversation and delving into markets…the uncomplicated way. We have a lot of work to do!
So glad I followed you guys on TTD!!!
When I first started reading your stuff, I had a hard time believing that stocks that cost almost $100/share or more could really shoot up as much as you said.
So I sat on the sidelines and watched for a couple months. But, after missing out one big win after another, I finally took the plunge and bought some TTD.
At $198/share, it was the most expensive stock I’d ever purchased. Today, it zoomed past $600… My first official triple!
I now own 8 MAP stocks, and they account for 44% of my total portfolio value. But get this… they represent 99% of my unrealized profits. That’s crazy!!!
Now I’m a MAP fan for life. Thanks guys!
Hey now! That’s what we’re talking about!
6 years ago we started as a firm with a mission to find great stocks. To read this makes it well worth it.
Have a great rest of your week!
DON’T HAVE THE TIME TO LISTEN TO ALL THE CHIT CHAT…LOVE YOU GUYS, BUT LET’S STICK TO THE MARKET. BTW BOUGHT TTD AT $224. HAD NO IDEA, AND STILL DON’T, WHAT IT IS. MANY THANKS.
BOUGHT BAND YESTERDAY SO FAR…NOT SO GOOD.
We hear you loud and clear!
Thank you for another window to your thought process and what moves the market. Keep doing the podcasts!
They can only get better right?!
Thanks for the comment, Volodymyr.
That was a really good start. Your analysis of the Trump covid news and the lack of market movement was what I would love to hear more of. Deconstructing major finacial news each week would be a winner. It really supports your big money map.
No karaoke!

We only want winners! We appreciate the thoughts.
Stop beating yourselves up. It’s your first time doing a podcast and you had a little fun with it while laying out some basics of your philosophy. All good! =) I certainly appreciate you taking a chance and sharing your thoughts in this new format. Can’t wait for number 2!
Some future topics I’d be interested in include….
— How do you recommend people use your services in managing their portfolios? Is there a certain allocation for “Big Money” stocks? Seems like coverage is mostly on large cap stocks. What size portfolio do you recommend for the cost of the service?
— How did your system of stock selection come to be? What have you learned as you’ve refined it over the years? What mistakes have you made and what did that teach you? Why do you make a good team? What do you consider each others strengths and weaknesses?
— How are buy and sell signals determined for BMI and individual stocks? I’d imagine that juice stocks remain so for a long time but when is one all squeezed?
— Without giving away the secret sauce, can you speak more to outliers and their characteristics.
Thanks again!

Great response. We’ve got some ideas cookin’ now.
Thank you, I really enjoyed seeing that you are just two normal guys with a special gift in stocks and a good sense of humour. I have a question that is not fully related to your podcast, but watching the podcast made me think of the different worlds we live. You guys financially independent living your dream and probably most of the rest of us wanting to become financially independent. You may loose perspective of the value of money if you have enough of it, while others loose perspective because they do not have enough. I would like to ask you a very straight question to help me with my perspective and decision making: Would you pay $2500 for a Palm Beach Trader subscription if your stock portfolio is worth $5000?
Thank you for the kind words. We are very normal and want that message to be throughout our research.
If we can do it, anyone can. And that goes for striving to find what makes us happy in this short life.
We will likely discuss how we started, how much we started with, and why it worked out in a future discussion!
The podcast was great! Please keep it going. I would like to see it launched on a platform that makes it easier to listen and find like a youtube, spotify, or apple podcasts. I listen to a lot of financial podcasts and think you guys have a lot to offer the listeners. The info regarding your market analyses is gold and your stories from working on wall street are amazing. Thanks for doing this and I would love to hear more of your market analysis and the knowledge you gained while working in the industry.
A couple of people have requested we get on a podcast platform.
I’d expect that can happen in the coming weeks once we do some due dilly.
Great feedback!
